This project started for two reasons. I wanted to keep some sort of scrapbook for my husband and me of our travels around the state. (It never occurred to me that people would actually take the time to read any of it).
The other reason I started traveling around the state was because I felt like I'd moved to another country when I first arrived. The Midwest and New England are so far apart in so many ways other than where they are on the map. I wanted to try and understand the place I lived better.
I am not attempting to be politically correct in this blog. Likewise, I am not attempting to disparage the state. This is simply a collection of my opinions, initial reactions and reflections on one state in New England--as I coax my husband to also see the state where he was born for the first time.
Even though I have lived in Connecticut for a decade now, I am still an outsider and I will always be. These travels make me feel a bit less so.
